The updating of Château Montautre has been a work of love in progress by it's owners for over the past two and a half years . . . with recent and substantial redecorated cozy welcoming guestrooms [with baths], the knights hall, the overall project coming to fruition in a wonderfully serene and secluded and historical setting in the Region of Limousin.  Château Montautre is a bed and breakfast that serves evening meals, plus offers a 'Gite' which is an independent home with cuisine that can be rented separately, and will be available in April.

The owners philosophy of Montautre is that of the connection between man and nature.  Here you are surrounded by beauty and nature, with many lakes that invite you to get away from the rest of the world to this serene and relaxing environment to go back to a state of mind that is calm without the craziness of the world evolving around you.  Montautre has a character and beauty of its own, reflecting a grandeur because of its structure but yet isn't intimidating but rather a humbling place.  This is truly a safe haven if you will, to get away from everything and get back to simple beauty and nature. 

With unlimited outdoor activities to keep you occupied from walking, hiking or biking or horseback riding.  And with the numerous lakes 
in the area, water sports abound. From skiing, wind surfing, sailing or boating to your hearts desire, and one of the largest lakes in France is Lake Vassiviere only 50k away, and Montautre has its own small lake that borders another small lake that is ideal for fishing, as is its rivers that are noted for fishing in this area.  We'll fix you a picnic basket to take along on your venture.

Of course some of the most treasured French porcelains in the world are created in Limoges, a absolute must visit.  Its an absolute delight to visit local villages and towns that take you back hundreds and hundreds of years where you'll be in awe of the architectural styles, actually viewing how life must have been like in the middle ages.  Another not to miss venture is the very picturesque route 'Richard Coeur de Lion' or 'Richard the Lion Hearted' King of England, descending from Henry II of England and his mother Eleanor of Aquitaine, a very powerful and influential family.

Rates: The gite sleeps 8 persons and is approximately 250m2 and the price per week is 1200 euros for 8 persons, 900 euros for 6 persons and 600 euros for 2-4 persons.  Please contact us for room rates.
